Charleville Bilby Experience
Overview
See bilbies in their nocturnal house and learn how the breeding facilities are making a massive difference at saving them from extinction.
The Charleville Bilby Experience offers a must-see show!
Join a tour of the nocturnal house (where they alter the timing so that the bilby’s night is during the day) and see some super cute bilbies during their night-time activities. After an engaging talk by one of the keepers you will understand more about the plight of this delightful eco-engineer and exactly why they are worth saving from extinction.
The Save the Bilby Fund has been working hard on the breeding facility here in Charleville and they have produced over 50 babies in the last couple of years. The management of the pairings (ensuring genetic diversity) means that we are helping build up the bilby populations across Australia with the intent of insuring them against extinction. Protecting bilbies and their environments mean that many many other native Australian species (some not as cute as the bilbies!) will also be saved.
The show has been revamped, you will not only see the super cute bilbies in their spectacular nocturnal house, but you will also learn about the plight of the bilby and their successful breeding and release program.
Following the guided tour, you will have time to ask questions, browse their informative displays and watch the short clips that are available.Tours
